FAQs
Helpling is Europe’s leading online marketplace for household-related services. This means that we’re an intermediary platform, that helps match customers with self-employed service providers like you. Through the Helpling platform, service providers offer services like domestic cleaning, dog sitting, gardening and much more. Helpling enables you to receive offers quickly and flexibly. Being self-employed means that you don’t have to search for job offers or write applications: On the Helpling platform, you have access to a broad customer base and you are your own boss!
You can easily receive offers by e-mail or push notification via our app, whichever you prefer. You decide which offers you want to accept – with Helpling you always stay flexible.
When you receive cleaning offers via the Helpling platform, your customer is responsible for providing cleaning materials. Before the clean, please check with your customer which cleaning supplies are available and whether important equipment is working. For all other services, such as furniture assembly or junk removal, please discuss with your customer before the appointment whether the needed tools and materials are available or must be brought along.
On the Helpling platform, over 90 percent of the offers come from private households. Offers from offices are rare.
As a self-employed service provider you are your own boss – you decide freely where, when and which offers you accept and what price you charge. In order to work as a self-employed person in Germany, you need a business licence (“Gewerbeschein”). We would like to note that you are solely responsible for your insurance and taxes. You’ll find further information on our Infoportal.
All registered service providers on the Helpling platform are self-employed and are not employed by Helpling. Helpling simply acts as the mediator between cleaner and client, offering a huge client base to cleaners – who enjoy the flexibility to manage their work around their schedules and work when they want. If you want to work as a self-employed service provider, you need a business license. You can get the business license (“Gewerbeschein”) from the appropriate authorities in your city. The process is very fast – most of the time you will receive it on the same day. In order to create trust between you and potential customers, you can upload the business license to your online account. This often makes your profile more attractive to customers, and thus leads to more offers. Of course, your business license won’t be shown, but your profile will be marked with „Business license checked“.
A police certificate of good conduct serves as proof of whether a person has a criminal record in Germany or not. In order to build trust between you and potential customers right from the start, you can upload the certificate of good conduct to your online account. Of course, it won’t be made public, but your profile will be marked with „Certificate of good conduct checked“. This often makes your profile more attractive to customers, and thus leads to more offers. You can get your certificate of good conduct at your local registration office. Which registration office is responsible for you depends on where you live. Each city has several registration offices where you can apply for your certificate of good conduct. If you don’t want to go to the registration office, you can simply request the certificate online. Further information can be found here.
